    Overview:

    Quinnipiac University's School of Business invites applications for the Carlton Highsmith Endowed Chair of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The University seeks an ambitious, accomplished, energetic, inclusive, collaborative, future-oriented and innovative leader to expand Quinnipiac's innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, the Business Innovation Hub, across the university, in the local community and throughout the state and region, to lead development of educational experiences for students with a commitment to ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible businesses and organizations. The Highsmith Chair will be a prominent leader in Quinnipiac's interdisciplinary Business Innovation Hub, an incubator that provides students with real-work, and immersive learning opportunities that have impact on the region, communities and neighborhoods and solve real-world social, environmental and technological problems.

    The Chair will collaborate with the Dean and other university leaders to realize our educational mission and generate resources and support for entrepreneurial ventures at the university through lifelong learning, certificate programs, partnerships, grants, and fundraising.

    We seek accomplished candidates who have made significant contributions to practice and thoughtful leadership in entrepreneurship and new venture creation. Successful candidates will have a track record of teaching and mentoring budding entrepreneurs, have entrepreneurial experience themselves and a proven ability to envision, initiate and lead partnerships and externally focused, field-based initiatives.

    The Highsmith Chair is a 3-year, 12-month appointment that is renewable. Candidates with an earned doctorate and demonstrated record of scholarship, teaching and service may be considered for a tenure track faculty appointment.

    The Quinnipiac University School of Business offers twelve undergraduate majors, five graduate degree programs, a graduate certificate in health care compliance, a five-year BS/MBA program and an innovative 3+1 accelerated BS/MBA program. The School of Business is AACSB accredited and its Accounting programs recently earned separate AACSB Accounting accreditation. USNWR has ranked the school's online MBA program #35, its online Graduate programs #22. USNWR also awarded the business school a #9 ranking for online graduate programs for Veterans.     Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with the Dean, the Director of Quinnipiac's People's United Bank Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship and other School of Business and Quinnipiac University leaders in the development and delivery of signature curricular and co-curricular applied learning experiences in for degree and nondegree programs
      • These signature learning experiences will teach the challenges, solutions, and opportunities facing new businesses and entrepreneurs with a focus on issues and barriers to economic success confronted by minority-owned businesses
    • Lead Quinnipiac's education partnership with the Connecticut Community Outreach Revitalization Program (ConnCat), a collaboration including lifelong learning programs for ConnCORP's Adult Entrepreneurship and Leadership Academy and college preparatory initiatives that includes Quinnipiac undergraduate and graduate student experiences that enable a deeper understanding of the issues and barriers to economic success confronted by minority-owned businesses, and to learn strategies to alleviate those inequalities
    • Build and sustain an external network of business, nonprofit, and individual relationships to support Quinnipiac's Business Innovation Hub
      • In partnership with the Director of Quinnipiac's People's United Bank Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, assure the QU innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem successfully integrates this external network with Quinnipiac's curricular and co-curricular programs and activities to foster student development and success as innovators and entrepreneurs
    • Be a catalyst for new external partnerships that accelerate economic development through innovation and entrepreneurship by identifying, initiating, and advancing collaborative opportunities with New Haven Promise, regional chambers of commerce, and other community organizations
    • Actively support Quinnipiac's overall diversity, equity, and inclusion goals in the community
    • Invest in the nurturing and guidance of students
    • Teach degree and non-degree courses and advise students

    Education Requirements:

    • Earned doctorate degree, terminal degree or master's degree

    Qualifications:

    • Distinguished expertise as an entrepreneur including experience incubating and promoting successful new ventures in minority communities from discovery to proof of concept to launch and growth
    • Demonstrated success working with students and with community-based organizations and leaders to advance economic opportunities and economic development in diverse communities
    • Demonstrated success working with diverse groups/populations and with multiple stakeholder groups spanning the private, public, and nonprofit sectors
    • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated evidence of high-quality teaching in higher education or corporate learning
    • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the needs of a diverse student population
    • Expertise mentoring and advising entrepreneurial ventures at all stages of development, collaborating with founders, investors, mentors, and working experience of new venture financing
    • Demonstrated experience in building/nurturing partnerships with students, faculty, and administrators, and with successful entrepreneurs
    • Track record of engagement with college students through teaching and entrepreneurial guidance
    • An earned doctorate, terminal degree or masters degree in an appropriate field such as entrepreneurship, economics, management, business or related field
    • Proven ability to initiate and sustain collaborative endeavors across teams to build and execute a vision
    • Track record of industry or academic thought leadership and high-impact use of social media
    • Commitment to Quinnipiac's mission of uplifting communities and individuals as part of a futurelooking university that equips students for the challenges and opportunities of 21st century careers
