    Description

The School of Sustainability (SOS) in the College of Global Futures (CGF) at Arizona State University invites applications for a full-time and benefit-eligible Lecturer in Sustainability and Enterprise (all ranks considered) with an anticipated start in Fall 2022. The appointment is non-tenure track and will be made at the rank of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Principal Lecturer, commensurating with the candidate's experience and accomplishments. This appointment is for one academic year, and subsequent academic year renewals are contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the school. The successful candidate will teach eight courses per academic year, typically four courses per semester. These courses are mostly undergraduate and some graduate level courses in sustainability and enterprise. The courses will mostly be taught on the Tempe campus and asynchronously online. In addition to teaching, a service in two school/ university committees is expected.

Applicants should have a broad grasp of sustainability and business enterprise and some hands-on experience in both teaching and applications. Sustainability and enterprise is one of the most important educational areas for the SOS and the CGF, from large-scale enterprise transitions toward sustainable carbon and circular more equitable economies, to alternative enterprise models, to organizational needs of strategic planning, assessments, investments, goal setting, reporting, and action taking. Areas of interest and expertise could include, amongst other areas: strategic application of sustainability and sustainable development principles (such as the UN SDGs) in enterprise contexts; applications of emerging environmental, social, and governance  tools and approaches to enterprise strategy, investment and innovation planning; applying emerging policies and policy approaches supporting a new carbon economy; direct experience in leading sustainability efforts within enterprises (e.g., planning, assessment, reporting, engagement, communications).

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and interdisciplinary pool of SOS faculty in the CGF. The SOS is the first comprehensive degree-granting program of its kind in the United States and it is a global leader in sustainability research and discovery. The CGF leadership and its faculty embrace ASU's mission as being a comprehensive public research university, measured not by whom it excludes, but rather by whom it includes and how they succeed; advancing research and discovery of public value; and assuming fundamental responsibility for the economic, social, cultural and overall health of the communities it serves. We support and foster a culture of inclusiveness, tolerance, and respect that promotes equal opportunity and diversity among CGF faculty, staff, and students and through its engagement with diverse communities within and beyond the University.
