    Posted 11-02-2021 21:12
We have extended the deadline for the 2022 U.S. Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) Social Entrepreneurship SIG awards. The application to self-nominate or nominate a deserving colleague takes less than an hour but has the potential for international-level recognition of excellence in social entrepreneurship teaching, scholarship, or programming. The final deadline for submissions is Wednesday, November 10th by 11:59 pm ET, and notification of the award recipients will be in December 2021, with the formal award being presented in January 2022.

With the generous support of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation, the USASBE Social Entrepreneurship SIG will be recognizing excellence within four categories:

    • Social Entrepreneurship SIG Award for Excellence in Teaching: This award recognizes individual educators with innovative course topics, methods, or modes of teaching in Social Entrepreneurship and related areas.
    • Social Entrepreneurship Award for Excellence in Scholarship: This award recognizes individual talent and promise in social entrepreneurship scholarship, including those who are junior scholars.
    • Social Entrepreneurship SIG Award for Excellence for Co-Curricular Programming or Events. This award can recognize an individual or team who was able to deliver innovative programming or an event in the area of social entrepreneurship. This can be at an institutional level or can be something broader in scope.
    • Social Entrepreneurship Award for Excellence in Practice and Service: This award is for actively practicing social entrepreneurs and social impact leaders.
Award recipients will receive a plaque, a $250 prize from the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation, and recognition at the 2022 USASBE Conference in January 2022. Congratulations again to our 2021 winners: Dr. Elena Dowin Kennedy (Teaching, Elon University); Dr. Sophie Bacq (Scholarship, Indiana University); Dr. Gorgi Kriev (Programming/Events, University of Heidelberg); and Ms. Jennifer Moreau (Practice/Service, World for Good).
