African Approaches to Tackle Grand Challenges
    (14th of October 2022, 3 PM – 6 PM, Central African Time)

Management and organization studies have increasingly experienced a pivot towards studying grand challenges. Climate and demographic changes, poverty alleviation, or the recent Covid-19 crisis examples of such major concerns to the world community. Scholars, studying such grand challenges aim to address the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Agenda 2030. However, no one-size-fits-all solutions exist. To provide practical knowledge, social-cultural, and economic particularities of a local place need to be respected. A theoretical approach that promises to tackle grand challenges in Europe might fail elsewhere. Hence, the distinctive histories as well as the different cultural, political, and economic contexts of the 54 diverse African countries need to be considered when establishing impactful knowledge that works on the ground. Though, how do such African approaches to tackle grand challenges look like?

If you are a scholar working on a research project that strives to address this or a similar question, join via Zoom the virtual Paper Development Workshop (vPDW), taking place on the 14th of October 2022 (3 PM – 6 PM, Central African Time), organized by the Centre for African Smart Public Value Governance in conjunction with the Africa Journal of Management and the Africa Academy of Management.
