    Dear Colleagues,

I am seeking panelists to join an AOM 2023 panel symposium centering Black mothers and their experiences in/with oppressive work environments.

This panel symposium is a continuation of research that was presented in a 2021 AOM Conference paper session and subsequently published in the Journal of Management, Spirituality & Religion with my colleague, Nicole (Dillard & Walker, 2022). In this research, which was informed by data collected from working, Black mothers - Nicole and I developed the Contemplative & Anti-Oppressive Practices (CAOP) framework for addressing workplace oppression.

Considering the Academy of Management conference theme "Putting the Worker Front and Center," we see an opportunity to gather a panel of Black working mothers, some of whom are also managers and/or knowledgeable in the field of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), to explore how the CAOP model might support their efforts to dismantle workplace oppression. Our goal for the conversation is to bring COAP into dialog with the Black working mothers it is designed to support.

If you self-identify as a Black, working mother and are interested in joining (or learning more about) participating in this symposium panel conversation, please contact Nicole or myself! To ensure that we make our conference submission on time, we would love to hear from you by 12/16/22.

    Thanks,
    Christina Walker, christina.walker2@lr.edu & Nicole Dillard, ndillard@umn.edu
