🚀 Space Economy PDW at AOM 2026 🛰️ Invitation to PNP Members 🌍✨

The rapidly expanding Space Economy (SE), driven by public–private collaborations, offers a compelling context for research in Public and Nonprofit Management (PNP). As agencies such as NASA and the European Space Agency increasingly engage with private partners like SpaceX and Boeing, the SE raises important questions about public value, technology-driven governance, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships.

For PNP scholars, the SE provides a distinctive opportunity to examine how space technologies are transforming public and nonprofit organizations globally. Under increasingly digital and transparent forms of open government, stakeholders—including citizens—are becoming more active co-producers in public processes. Space technologies such as satellite connectivity are also reshaping how institutions engage stakeholders, deliver services, and coordinate across sectors and borders.

At the same time, governments and nonprofits remain central to advancing exploration, shaping policy, and ensuring sustainable and ethical governance in space. This makes the SE a rich setting for exploring questions of governance, administrative decision-making, public–private partnership design, sustainability, and the broader social and ethical implications of innovation in a globally influential domain.

Our PDW, Space Economy: Consolidating a Research Agenda, will provide a forum for PNP scholars to examine the SE’s implications for public institutions and nonprofits, while also identifying collaborative opportunities and new frameworks for addressing space-related challenges in scholarship and practice.
