Hello!
We are excited to invite you to the inaugural session of a new webinar series looking at the planetary boundaries from interdisciplinary perspectives. The Sustainable Enterprises Initiative (SEI) and Institute on Ecosystems (IOE) at Montana State University are hosting the first of four sessions this spring.
On Wednesday February 4th (9-10am US Mountain Time), we'll host Dr. Amanda Williams and Dr. Paolo Perego to kick off the webinar series with a discussion of their 2025 literature review paper in Journal of Management Studies on the planetary boundaries framework in organization studies (co-authored with Dr. Gail Whiteman). This event will be recorded and available to those who register. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Please register for this first seminar on Zoom with this link.
Following this first session, we'll host three talks related to the 'land system change' planetary boundary, defined as "The transformation of natural landscapes, such as through deforestation and urbanization, disrupts habitats and biodiversity and diminishes ecological functions like carbon sequestration and moisture recycling. Globally, the remaining forest areas in tropical, boreal, and temperate biomes have fallen below safe levels" (Stockholm Resilience Center, 2025). Land system change thus includes human disturbances on the landscape such as agricultural activities and impacts on our forests.
The next confirmed webinar will be on Wednesday, Feb. 25th (9-10am US Mountain Time):
· Dr. Catherine Zabinski, Professor of Land Resources & Environmental Science at Montana State University: Sustainable agriculture in wine grape growing and a soil ecology perspective on terroir.
· A separate invitation and Zoom registration link will be circulated closer to that date, so stay tuned. More sessions will be announced soon.
Hope you can join us for this first session on Feb. 4th!
