    The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Policy beginning in the 2023-24 academic year. Assistant professors with prior experience will be considered. The program is seeking a teacher-scholar who can contribute to high-quality undergraduate and graduate education and pursue a high-quality, active research agenda.

    The area of specialization is open, but the successful candidate should demonstrate a clear interest in science and technology policy issues, such as health related (medical and bio-) technology, computer and information technology,  technology innovation, data science, and sustainable technology. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate and masters levels, a strong research agenda, and service to the university and community. Candidates with backgrounds that integrate science and engineering fields with the social sciences or humanities are encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in an appropriate field is required prior to the position start date.

    Department/College Description

    The Public Policy Department currently offers a M.S. in Science, Technology, and Public Policy, an undergraduate minor and immersion, and supports undergraduate RIT's general education program. Current faculty publish interdisciplinary research in top journals and have been successful in attaining externally funded grants. We have several joint BS/MS degrees and strong working relationships with many of the other colleges, including Science, Engineering, Computing and Information Sciences, Health Sciences and Technology, and Business.     Required Minimum Qualifications

    All candidates must have:

    • Ph.D. or terminal degree in an appropriate field at time of appointment,
    • A clear interest in science and technology policy issues that support the degree programs, and,
    Candidates must also demonstrate potential for:
    • Effective teaching in the public policy curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels
    • A strong research agenda related to science and technology issues with potential to attract external funding
    • Service to the university and community
    • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
