*Apologies for Cross-Posting*
I thought this might be of interest to the AoM-PNP membership, as APPAM's Call for Papers is seeking proposals related to public and non-profit management, as well as impacts of politics on the policy process.
Public and Non-Profit Management and Finance
What implications do actions like strengthening management's role in policy development, operating effectively with reduced budgets, ensuring success in networked government enterprises, adjusting to changing government roles, developing and utilizing effective performance management protocols, etc., have for policy outcomes? What is the role of regulation in policy assessment? How are we evaluating the impacts of budget cuts?
The Impact of Politics on the Policy Process
How does the study of political processes and the environments in which they play out inform policy evaluation, formulation, and deliberation? How can policy research and analysis benefit from the study of the dynamic interaction among policy makers, institutional structures, and the processes they use to conduct their work?
(Deadline for submission is April 5, 2013)

Subject: Introducing the APPAM 2013 Fall Research Conference
Introducing the Fall Research Conference November 7 - 9, 2013 Washington, DC Power of the Past - Force for the Future |
|
| Greetings APPAM members! The system to submit a proposal for the 2013 Fall Research Conference is now open. As you will see throughout this year, the Program Committee is committed to offering you a challenging and dynamic 2013 Fall Research Conference. The theme for the conference is Power of the Past-Force for the Future. This year's program will aim to build on the knowledge and experience of Association members and their colleagues by examining the current state of research and analysis across critical policy issues, as well as offer an environment to explore the place of research and analysis in future policy deliberations. The conference is critical to achieving several of APPAM's strategic goals, namely: - to promote greater integration across disciplines, methods, topics, and perspectives.
- to increase the policy relevance of our work.
To better facilitate knowledge-sharing and the exchange of different perspectives among researchers and policy makers, we've made some adjustments to our traditional policy categories, cross-cutting themes, and format. Before submitting your proposals, I would like to invite you to read more about our reasoning behind these changes and how they will benefit members, attendees, and the conference experience as a whole. For more in-depth information, follow the links below: Over the next few months, we will introduce several new innovations to the Fall Research Conference on our transforming website and through a series of blogs. Watch for our next blog installment in March! When you're ready, please submit your proposal here! The deadline to submit a proposal is April 5, 2013. I look forward to working with you to ensure that the Fall Research Conference offers you a dynamic and challenging setting in which to test ideas, share insights, and develop new collaborations.
