The Department of Public Administration and International Affairs at Syracuse University’s Maxwell
School of Citizenship and Public Affairs seeks applications for two tenure track positions, at the
assistant or associate professor level, in the management of public and nonprofit organizations.
Applicants should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and an active research agenda.
Applicants should have a broad background in public administration and management, and we are
particularly interested in individuals with primary expertise in areas that include human resource
management, leadership in complex organizations, organizational behavior, management of a diverse
workforce, and labor relations.
The successful candidates will have responsibilities that include teaching graduate courses,
developing and maintaining an active, rigorous research agenda, student mentorship, and service
activities. We welcome applications from people with a range of disciplinary backgrounds, including
but not limited to public administration, nonprofit/NGO management, public policy, business
administration, psychology and other social science fields.
The Department of Public Administration and International Affairs at the Maxwell School is home to
the world’s first MPA program, which is ranked first among more than 250 graduate public affairs
programs in the United States (U.S. News & World Report). The department is also home to a
top-ranked master’s program in international relations (Foreign Policy magazine), a Ph.D. in public
administration, a master’s degree in public health, executive master’s degrees in public
administration and international relations, and a wide range of certificate programs. The Syracuse
