    ADVANCE CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
    2015 Doctoral Student Professional Development Consortium
    Public & Nonprofit Division

    If you are a doctoral student with aspirations to research and teach in public or nonprofit
    management, consider applying to the Doctoral Student Professional Development Consortium of the
    Public and Nonprofit (PNP) Division of the Academy of Management (AoM). The Doctoral Consortium is
    an unparalleled opportunity to (a) get tips on finding an academic job; (b) present your existing
    research or proposal and obtain feedback from senior scholars; and (c) network among peers, future
    colleagues, and potential employers. The Doctoral Consortium takes place on Saturday, August 8,
    2015.

    This call is an advance call to enable you to be listed in the AoM Meeting program. If you are
    interested in attending the Doctoral Consortium, please consider submitting a one to three page
    research proposal or abstract of a research paper by March 2, 2015 by 5:00pm ET. If you have
    decided on a dissertation topic, submit a short synopsis of the dissertation. If you have not yet
    articulated a dissertation topic, briefly outline a potential research project that could be shaped
    into a dissertation. Doctoral students at any stage are welcome to apply to the consortium, and the
    consortium is especially beneficial for students who are in the dissertation proposal development
    stage or later. As part of the Doctoral Consortium, students will have an opportunity to present
    their research proposals or current projects to faculty members in the field.

    To submit a proposal, please submit your proposal/abstract using the link below:
    PNP Doctoral Consortium Application (link is unavailable in this email format so please see the attachment)
    If accepted, submitting your abstract to the Doctoral Consortium Co-Chairs by March 2nd will ensure
    that your name appears in the conference program as a participant in the Doctoral Consortium. Some
    universities, departments or other funders may require proof of participation before funding
    conference travel, and depending on your organization’s requirements, this listing could serve as
    that proof.

    Students accepted to participate in the Consortium must register for the conference. However, there
    is no additional charge to participate in the Doctoral Consortium. Slots in the Doctoral Consortium
    are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.

    Please note that passports will be required of US students traveling to Canada for the conference.

    Please direct questions to the PNP Doctoral Consortium Co-Chairs, Adam Eckerd (aeckerd@vt.edu) and
    Robin Lemaire (rlemaire@vt.edu).

  • 2.  call for papers - Contemporary Perspectives on Technological Innovation, Management and Policy

    Posted 03-24-2015 21:05

    Please excuse any cross-postings.

    Dear colleagues,

    Hope that all is well with you. I am writing to invite you to write a chapter for the Volume III of the book series, Contemporary Perspectives on Technological Innovation, Management and Policy ( http://www.infoagepub.com/series/Contemporary-Perspectives-on-Technological-Innovation-Management-and-Policy), due for publication in 2016 by Information Age.

    The first two volumes of the book series were published in 2013, entitled respectively Global Perspectives on Technological Innovation and The Dark Side of Technological Innovation. I had two objectives when editing the first two volumes: one, to be open to all potential topics that I believe need attention within the broad theme of the management of technology and innovations; and two, to promote an interdisciplinary scholarship and dialogue on the management of innovation and technological change in a global context from strategic, managerial, behavioral, and policy perspectives. Papers selected in the two volumes have nicely addressed these two objectives by their in-depth exploration of the four prominent sets of questions:

    1. What are the current research interests and the global applications of the technological innovation?

    2. What is the practicality of the research on technological innovation implementation to foster success and growth?

    3. What are the socio-technical challenges behind innovation and creativity that might outweigh the benefits?

    4. What are some of the new principles / practices / perspectives on our understanding of the global technological innovation?

    The third volume will continue this dialogue by devoting itself to enhancing our understanding of the managing technological innovations and related policy and strategy issues. Potential topics might include, but not limited to, studies of strategic management of technological innovations; innovation processes, diffusion, and characteristics; the development, implementation and use of technologies; knowledge integration and talent management; organizational processes and behavioral effects of the technological innovations; technological forecasting and policies, governmental role of regulating and promoting technological innovations, etc.

    If you would like to contribute to this book volume, the schedule is as follows:

    - May 15, 2015            Deadline for submitting a 2-page proposal for your book chapter;

    - July 1, 2015              Deadline for editorial decisions on the proposals;

    - October 1, 2015        Deadline for full chapters;

    - December 1, 2015     Deadline for editorial feedback for chapters;

    - Feb 15, 2016             Deadline for final chapters.

    I plan to have the volume published in the spring of 2016. More information on the progress of the publication is available at www.infoagepub.com

    I hope that you are interested in submitting a chapter. Please let me know if you have any questions by email (
