The Advances in Business Strategy and Competitive Advantage (ABSCA) Book
Series is a timely series responding to the high demand for state-of-the-art
research on how business strategies are created, implemented and re-designed
to meet the demands of globalized competitive markets. With a focus on local
and global challenges, business opportunities and the needs of society, the
ABSCA encourages scientific discourse on doing business and managing
information technologies for the creation of sustainable competitive advantage.

    Introduction
Firm growth is a topic that has been the target of several analyses in the
literature from different approaches, due to its importance and relevance
for firm survival, generation of employment, increased economic growth and
dynamism as well as the industrial concentration of firms, the process of
firm selection and competitiveness in the sequence of diverse efficiency
levels, and the introduction of innovation and technological change. This is
a hot topic with an emerging body of theoretical and empirical applications
devoted to the internal and external determinants of firm growth,
considering both the endogenous and exogenous factors that can jointly work
for a sustainable growth based on entrepreneurial practices funded in micro
    practices, at the firm level.

    Objective of the Book
This book aims to present a solid body of selected contributions to better
understanding the internal and external determinants of firm growth,
especially, start-ups and small and medium sized firms. In this line of
reasoning, it will provide a set of multidimensional analyses, by taking
into consideration both individual and firm dimensions.
