    Here at NC State, we are searching for a senior level colleague to serve as Executive Director of our School of Public and International Affairs!     North Carolina State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Director of the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA).  SPIA is a multi-disciplinary cadre of faculty and staff committed to advancing cutting edge scholarship and training the next generation of leaders who will define their respective fields of research and practice. SPIA serves the people of North Carolina, the nation, and the world through its educational, research, and engagement activities in public management, politics, governance, public and international affairs, and public policy. SPIA's programs and activities span the university, building linkages with diverse external communities and stakeholders.  

     

    The Executive Director provides innovative and strategic leadership, generates external resources, and administers teaching, research, and extension/engagement activities in the School. The director plays a key role in faculty and staff recruitment and development, program planning and evaluation, and budgetary direction. SPIA's departments and programs include the BA/BS and Master of International Studies in the Department of Political Science; Masters of Public Administration and PhD programs in the Department of Public Administration; the educational and training outreach to law enforcement executives in the Public Safety Leadership Initiative; and the online B.A in Leadership in the Public Sector program.

     

    The Executive Director will be responsible for working with the SPIA Faculty, Board, and College leadership to chart and execute a vision for the advancement of the School and its component programs.  Other responsibilities include: leading development and external relations for the School; supervising program and department directors and staff; managing fiscal, space, and other resources; facilitating faculty reappointment, promotion, tenure, and post-tenure review processes; and overseeing academic affairs, research, and recruitment/retention of faculty.
