    NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP
    Editor Search

The Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Case Western Reserve
University seeks an editor for its journal, Nonprofit Management and
Leadership. Now entering its 19th year of publication, NML is committed
both to academic excellence and to advancing creative interaction between
    rigorous research and engaged practice.

The new editor, who will have earned significant distinction in the field
of nonprofit management and leadership, will lead NML as it responds to
rapid changes in its field and seeks to raise its profile among
researchers and practitioners. The editor must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant
academic discipline, have extensive experience in evaluating and working
with research manuscripts and their authors, be able to work effectively
with journal staff and editorial board, and manage journal operations
    efficiently.

The editorship of NML is a renewable three-year, part-time appointment of
the Mandel Center. The editor might be based at an academic or, possibly,
research institution anywhere in the U.S. or abroad. The editorial offices
of Nonprofit Management and Leadership are located in the Mandel Center’s
building on the campus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland,
Ohio; the publisher, under a contract with the Mandel Center, is Jossey-
Bass/Wiley. The editor reports to the Executive Director of the Mandel
Center, and works closely with the Managing Editor in the editorial
offices, with the journal’s Editorial Board and its advisory groups, and
with the Mandel Center’s faculty. Subject to final agreement, the Mandel
Center expects that the editor will spend at least a few days at CWRU each
year, both for NML editorial meetings and to engage with the Mandel
    Center’s faculty and students.

The Mandel Center will provide the editor an appropriate stipend, to be
determined, as well as essential expenses—and, as noted above, will
continue to provide NML’s primary editorial offices and the highly
    experienced Managing Editor.

    Search Committee

An Editor Search Committee has been established, chaired by David C.
Hammack, Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations, Case Western Reserve
University. Committee members include Kirsten Grønbjerg, Center on
Philanthropy, Indiana University; F. Ellen Netting, School of Social Work,
Virginia Commonwealth University; Jodi Sandfort, Humphrey Institute of
Public Affairs, University of Minnesota; and Steven Rathgeb Smith, Evans
School of Public Affairs, University of Washington.

    Application Process

Please submit the names of potential applicants to the Committee at
    NMLjournal@case.edu.

Self-nominations are encouraged. Applications should include:

    • A letter of application, indicating the level of support the applicant’s
employer will provide for the editor’s office space, equipment, and
partial release from instructional duties or other obligations, support
    for a graduate assistant, etc.

    • A full curriculum vitae, including a list of publications and past
    editorial experience

Committee deliberations will begin on May 15, 2008; later applications
will be considered. The Committee will interview finalists via
videoconference and will make its recommendations to the Mandel Center’s
Executive Director, who will announce the new editor in late October
    2008. The editor’s three-year term will begin on January 1, 2009.
