Assistant Professor, Public Administration, Tenure Track
The Department of Public Administration seeks to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Public Administration, tenure track position, beginning August 2008.
Brief description of duties:
· Effectively teach graduate courses in the MPA program, in one or more of these content areas: financial management in government and nonprofit organizations; budgeting; strategic management in government and nonprofit organizations; public policy
· Engage in outreach activities and maintain relationships with local government and nonprofit agencies
· Scholarship, consistent with standards of performance required for continuing appointment (tenure).
· Participation in curriculum and program development.
· Service activities consistent with the needs of the Department, College and with the community.
· Continuous professional development.
Required Qualifications:
· PhD in Public Administration or related field. ABD considered if degree is expected to be completed within one year of hiring.
· Scholarly potential demonstrated by publications or high-quality works in progress and research plan.
· Ability to teach in a multicultural environment.
· Collegial and team-oriented demeanor.
· Strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Demonstrated student focus and effectiveness in teaching college-level courses
· Experience working public and/or nonprofit organizations.
