    Assistant or Associate Professor

    Nonprofit Management with Research & Teaching Interests in Arts Administration

     

    The Master of Public Administration Program (MPA) in the Department of Political Science invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, beginning in Fall 2008.  Primary duties will involve developing and teaching in the MPA Program's new Arts Administration concentration.  The successful candidate must have strong teaching and research interests in Arts Administration, Public Policy towards the Arts, and/or Nonprofit Management, or Public Administration.  Demonstrated interest, training, or experience in the Arts is required. In addition to Arts Administration, the ability to teach courses in Nonprofit Management, Public Management, or Urban Management & Policy is essential.  Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in Public Administration, Arts Administration, Business Administration, Public Policy, or a related field, by August 2008.

     

     The Political Science Department consists of 23 faculty members, offers a NASPAA-accredited MPA degree, and is a significant partner in an interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Public Policy.     Department of Political Science

     

    Public Policy / Political Economy

     

    The Department of Political Science seeks an assistant professor in Public Policy / Political Economy, beginning August 2008. Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Economics, or related field; the ability to teach cost-benefit analysis, operations research, and management science methods.  Desired qualifications include prior teaching experience; extensive training in political science and/or public policy analysis and methodology; a demonstrated ability to teach and perform research in public policy; a substantive research interest in environmental policy and/or knowledge of governmental finance.  While the position is housed in political science, the successful candidate will teach doctoral-level courses to students with diverse disciplinary orientations (such as geography, public administration, international policy, public policy, criminal justice, and history) in the MPA Program and the interdisciplinary Public Policy Ph.D. Program.  Candidates are expected to contribute to the Public Policy program through an active research agenda oriented towards public policy.  

     

    The Department of Political Science has 23 faculty members, and houses a NASPAA-accredited MPA Program and is a core constituent in the interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Public Policy.  The MPA Program, currently with nine faculty members, has strong ties to local governments and non-profit organizations in the greater <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Charlotte</st1:city></st1:place> metropolitan area.  Most students in the program are working professionals taking courses at night.
