Government regulation is one of the most important determinants that influences the development and diffusion of environmental technologies. Despite the fact that there had been significant theoretical advancements with regard to the effect of alternative types of policy instruments on the rate and direction of technological change, the literature is still quite underdeveloped. This PDW seeks to bring together a group of scholars in the field of regulation and innovation as well as scholars in management strategy with the goal of establishing conversations around this research theme and exploring new research avenues. Three papers in this PDW examine the impact of government regulations on the development of regulation-driven technologies and technology diffusion, while the last paper seeks to understand attributes that lead firms to adopt organizational practices (organizational innovation) under regulatory regimes.
The PDW consists of paper presentation followed by audience interactions. A discussant will briefly talk about presented papers following presentations. Audience will then be invited to interact with both discussant and paper presenters.
