This caucus seeks to create a space to talk and asks questions about juggling parenting, PhD studies and academic careers. In order to achieve this, we would like to bring together people at different career stages to share their own experiences, concerns, and the way in which they have managed the demands of work and family. The caucus may also foster dialogue about 'best practices' in creating positive environments for people to balance academic careers and family. To this aim, we would discuss family leave provisions, tenure clock extensions, and other provisions related to work and family in academic settings. We hope that this caucus becomes a place to openly and candidly talk about some of the most important decisions and choices that AoM members face.
Our caucus will feature guest speakers at different stages of their academic careers and who have made a variety of family and professional decisions such as having or not having children, pursuing tenure vs. non-tenure track positions, among others. These speakers will share their experiences and also answer questions from the caucus participants. We hope that this caucus becomes a place to openly and candidly talk about some of the most important decisions and choices that AoM members face.
