    Nominations for Public and Nonprofit Division, Academy of Management 2006 Elections:

    Nominations are now being sought for seven positions in the PNP Division as described below. Elections will occur in late April, early May 2006. Please nominate others in the Division whom you believe are qualified for these offices, but also feel free to nominate yourself. You do not need to get the nominee's permission for a nomination, as the Election Committee will confirm the willingness of all nominees to serve. These Division offices are open to any member of the Division, and fresh leadership energy is constantly sought. Nominations must be received no later than April 21st by the Immediate Past Division Chair, Ralph Brower, via email, phone, or the mail address listed at the bottom of this message. Please provide contact information for yourself or anybody else you nominate.

     

    2006-2007 Division Program Chair

    Duties: The Program Chair plans and supervises the Division's program for the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management. Tasks include circulating invitations to submit papers and symposia proposals for the program, recruiting reviewers, assigning submitted manuscripts to reviewers, collecting reviewers' comments, selecting and rejecting papers and symposium proposals based on reviews, coordinating joint symposia with other divisions' program chairs, organizing panels and assigning them to time slots, coordinating the division's schedule of social and other non-program events, preparing food and beverage orders in conjunction with the Division Chair and PDW Chair, and other related duties. The Program Chair accedes to the positions of Division Chair Elect, Division Chair, and Immediate Past Division Chair and is responsible to fulfill the duties of these offices over the subsequent three years.
     
    Member of the Membership Committee

    Duties: The task of the Membership Committee is to promote membership in the PNP Division. The committee consists of three Division members who serve staggered three-year terms. The member of the committee serving her/his third year acts as chair of the committee. The term of this office is 2006-2009.
    APSA Liaison

    Duties: The Liaison Committee consists of one liaison for each of the professional associations known as APPAM, APSA, ASPA, and ARNOVA, and a fifth member representing international associations whose missions are related to the Division's domain. Each member serves for three years and terms are staggered so that two liaison positions are elected each year. The specific function of the APSA Liaison is to establish linkage with the American Political Science Association and represent the PNP Division at APSA's annual meeting. The term of this office is 2006-2009.
     
    ASPA Liaison

    Duties: The ASPA Liaison is also a member of the Liaison Committee whose specific function is to establish linkage with the American Society for Public Administration and represent the PNP Division at ASPA's annual meeting. The term of this office is 2006-2009.
    Chair, Best Article Award Committee

    Duties: This position chairs a committee that selects the best public or nonprofit management article for 2006 (i.e., published between January 1 and December 31, 2006). The Chair consults with the Division Chair to select two additional members of the award selection committee. The Chair promotes the competition and solicits nominations to be received by February 1, 2007. The winner will be announced during the Academy Meeting in 2007, and the Chair is responsible to notify the Program Chair in a timely fashion to facilitate preparing a plaque recognizing the award.

    Chair, Best Book Award

    Duties: This position chairs a committee that selects the best book (publication dates 2004, 2005, or 2006) in the subject matter domain of the Division. The Chair consults with the Division Chair to select two additional members of the award selection committee. The Chair promotes the competition and solicits nominations to be received by February 1, 2007. The winner will be announced during the Academy Meeting in 2007, and the Chair is responsible to notify the Program Chair in a timely fashion to facilitate preparing a plaque recognizing the award.

    Chair, Best Dissertation Award
    Duties: This position chairs a committee that selects the best dissertation defended between June 2006 and May 2007 in the subject matter domain of the Division. The Chair consults with the Division Chair to select two additional members of the award selection committee. The Chair promotes the competition and solicits nominations to be received by May 15, 2007. The winner will be announced during the Academy Meeting in 2007, and the Chair is responsible to notify the Program Chair in a timely fashion to facilitate preparing a plaque recognizing the award.
