Executive Editor
We are seeking a scholar or practitioner to assume the new role of Executive Editor for Public Administrative Review. This individual would work closely with Editor in Chief James L. Perry and Editor Richard Feiock in leading PAR, ASPA's flagship journal, now in its 75th year of publication. The Executive Editor would be responsible for managing current and facilitating new initiatives for public administration's leading professional journal. The duties of the Executive Editor will include:
· Create and manage editorial-content related partnerships with major associations of public professionals;
· Support engagement between the PAR Editorial Board and editorial staff;
· Develop and promote virtual issues, which are based on previously published content;
· Oversee evaluation of the journal and its social media initiatives;
· Represent PAR at conferences and other professional meetings;
· Oversee the process for annual PAR awards.
Responsibilities may be added or modified based on the strengths and interests of the person selected for the Executive Editor role.
Associate Editors
PAR is seeking 3-5 associate editors to assist Editor Richard Feiock in managing a large and rapidly growing volume of manuscripts. Associate editors are expected to support broad subject-matter areas related to PAR's editorial content. Each associate editor will be expected to perform the following duties:
· Conduct initial review and screening of submissions in their areas of expertise;
· Make decisions about whether to desk reject or review submissions;
· Recommend reviewers to the Editor for manuscripts accepted for peer review;
· Advise the Editor after referee recommendations or appeals of manuscript decisions.
· Represent PAR in professional networks and meetings;
· Support development of partnerships with associations of public professionals.
Candidates for both the Executive Editor and Associate Editor positions should be able to provide institutional support for their role, including allocation of adequate time and resources to underwrite their service to PAR. Successful candidates' travel will need to be supported by the candidate or his/her organization.
