    The <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">North Carolina</st1:placename> at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Charlotte</st1:city></st1:place> invites applicants for the Chair of the Department of Political Science, effective 1 July 2007.  The position is open to applicants with credentials commensurate with that of a full professor at UNC Charlotte and will be on a twelve-month contract with tenure.  Salary is commensurate with responsibilities and experience.

     

    Required:  Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Administration, or D.P.A.; extensive teaching experience at the collegiate level; record of distinguished scholarship; experience in writing and administering research grants or contracts; a commitment to quality undergraduate and graduate education for a diverse student population; and the ability to provide academic leadership.  Desired:  previous administrative experience.

     

    The Department of Political Science has a full-time faculty of 22.  Faculty members participate in the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Public Policy program and the department is home to an outstanding, NASPAA-accredited Masters in Public Administration program.  There are over 100 graduate students in these programs, as well as more than 450 undergraduate majors in the B.A. in Political Science.  UNC Charlotte is the only doctoral intensive university in the growing <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Charlotte</st1:city></st1:place> urban area, and offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs for more than 20,000 students.
