Subject: New data sets available on membership associations

    Association Scholars

The ASAE Foundation has provided the Institute for Nonprofits with two new  data sets:  The 2009 Decision to Learn and the 2008 990 data sets. Both are now available through our website under the Association Research  tab. From there you can find new and old data set descriptions on the right panel or Request Access to the data sets through the designated tab. If you have already requested access to the data sets in the past the process is QUICK and PAINLESS. Simply log on with your old login and password information and update your profile to include the new data sets.

Interested in association data regarding learning, learning formats, barriers to participation, motivating factors (and much more)? The Decision to Learn data represents individuals from 12 professional associations and is applicable to a wide range of academic interests involving associations.  Interested in finances, programs, and missions?  Our 2008 990 data provides information from nearly 20,000 membership associations.

In addition to providing new data sets, we are updating our old data sets with newer versions as they come in: We have or will have new data to add to our Decision to Give/Volunteer/Join, Compensation, & Policies and Procedures data sets.

Part of the Institute for Nonprofits' mission is to promote and encourage research on associations that is why all of our data sets are free to academic scholars and will remain free as a way of stimulating growth in this field.

Please contact our project coordinator if you have any questions.
