    1. Special issue theme

Conflict of interests, beliefs or values is one of the major sources of systems complexity. In recent years, problem solving in a conflicting context has increasingly become the shared focus of various disciplines and practices. This special issue intends to showcase not only the challenges and responses of different conflict situations, but the insights and methods from other research fields and praxes. We hope this special issue could bring fresh thoughts to systems community and promote to shape collaborative problem solving as an emerging research focus of systems research in the coming decade.

    2. Journal introduction

Systems Research and Behavioral Science publishes original articles on new theories, experimental research, and applications relating to all levels of living and non-living systems. Its scope is comprehensive, dealing with systems approaches to: the redesign of organisational and societal structures; the management of administrative and business processes; problems of change management; the implementation of procedures to increase the quality of work and life; the resolution of clashes of norms and values; social cognitive processes; modelling; the introduction of new scientific results, etc. Please find more information at:

    3. Topic of interests

Papers can focus on either theoretical or practical aspect, and embrace both aspects are especially welcomed. Contributions with a focus on a specific field are encouraged. These fields includes but not limited to, collaborative planning, collaborative policy making, environmental conflict resolution, international dispute solving and peacemaking, organizational conflict resolution, labour-management disputes solving.

Papers of this issue are not necessarily written with systems language. However, papers unfolded from a perspective of problem solvers, intervenors, or facilitators would be better resonant with the theme of this proposed special issue and the aim of this journal.

    4. Paper preparation
