    Dear colleague,

We would like to draw your attention to a new emerging subfield in public administration, called 'behavioral public administration'. Behavioral public administration combines insights from public administration and psychology to study the micro-level of public administration theory and practice. Herbert Simon long ago stressed the importance of psychology for public administration. Furthermore, we have lately witnessed an increased use of insights from psychology by public administration scholars. However, at the same time it is clear that the two fields live fairly separate lives.

For the coming years, various scholars (above and beyond those signing this email) in the discipline have joined forces to develop a community interested in this topic. This is in line with similar subfields, such as political psychology and behavioural economics.

The most concrete next event is at the next Academy of Management. Here, a showcase presenter symposium will be held. Papers will be presented authored by among else:

    -          Prof. Barry Bozeman and Prof. Justin Stritch from Arizona State University

    -          Prof. Leisha DeHart-Davis from UNC Chapel Hill

    -          Prof. Anders Villadsen from Aarhus University

Furthermore, there will be ample time for discussion and looking at the next few years on this topic.

Location & Time: AOM Conference, Vancouver, Monday, August 10, 2015, 9:45:00 AM - 11:15:00 AM, Pinnacle Vancouver Harbourfront Hotel, Harbourside Ballroom I.

We hope you are able to attend this session and /or join us in further developing the research agenda of a behavioral public adminstration. Panels will be held at various conferences, such as EGPA, IRSPM, PMRC and other venues.

If you are interested in this line of research or have any queries, please feel free to contact us!
