When this special issue was first conceived by Jens-Blom Hanse, Rebecca Morton, and Soeren Serritzlew at Aarhus University in Denmark three years ago, almost no work using experimental methods was being done by public administration scholars. We are pleased how quickly this method has spread, and believe this special issue is a milestone in the development of our field.
