    Assistant Professor of Public Administration

    The Institute of Public Service (IPS) at Seattle University seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Public Administration beginning in September 2019. For additional information regarding IPS, consult the following link: https://www.seattleu.edu/careers/.

    Responsibilities include teaching courses in the Master of Public Administration and the Bachelor of Public Affairs programs with scholarly expertise in some combination of the following areas: research methods, nonprofit management, ethics in the public sector, economic analysis, and/or public program evaluation. Secondarily, candidates should have an interest in social justice issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, solid scholarly potential and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university's mission and values.

    Additionally, the candidate will be expected to engage in progressive and continuing scholarship, advise students and engage in departmental and university service. The candidate will be expected to teach both in-person and hybrid courses that make use of on-line technology.

    Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in public administration or a closely related field. Specialization can include, but is not limited to, research methods, nonprofit management, ethics in the public sector, economic analysis, and/or public program evaluation. 

    Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, the candidate should have the ability to teach and conduct research in the field(s) of the aforementioned specialties. The successful candidate is expected to teach a set of required research methods courses within the Institute's MPA program.
