A lot of people missing my point. First, I was making a joke. The A10 is super effective at what it was designed to do. It was designed to use its gun. Missiles were a secondary concern that expanded its capability slightly. The F35 is in a similar boat in that it's designed around the use of long range missiles.
However, considering that it's kill range is beyond visual, guns are, at best, irrelevant. At worst, the guns are useless wastes of space and weight.
