  • 1.  RFP for Report on Nonprofit Economic Impact

    Hello colleagues!

Below is an RFP for a study being commissioned by a capacity building and nonprofit sector advocacy consortium I'm involved in.  Since the project will mainly involve secondary data analysis, investigators located outside of the region are invited to apply.

Any questions about the RFP or the project in general should be directed to the consortium's chair, Jose Marquez <jmarquez@thecommunityfoundation.net>.

The San Bernardino County Capacity Building Consortium (SBCCBC) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to identify and contract a highly qualified researcher to perform an independent economic analysis of the charitable nonprofit sector within <st1:place w:st="on"> <st1:placename w:st="on">San Bernardino</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on"> County</st1:placetype></st1:place>. The project objective is to estimate the sector's economic and fiscal contributions to the existing economies of the county. The nonprofit sector represents a significant -- yet often overlooked -- portion of our local economy and is the truly the "third sector" along with the business and government sectors.

The mission of SBCCBC is "to strengthen the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">San Bernardino</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">County</st1:placetype></st1:place>'s nonprofit sector by providing a platform for collective action, increased philanthropy, and public investment in our communities." The Consortium's vision is a nonprofit sector in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">San Bernardino</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on"> County</st1:placetype></st1:place> that is effective, responsive, innovative and sustainable.  This report is intended to advance that mission and vision by helping to make the case for increased assistance and resources devoted to the sector.

The projected project budget is roughly $18,000 to $23,000.  The deadline for submission of a proposal is Wednesday, February 15, 2012. A final selection of the Consultant(s) will be made on March 1, 2012. For more details see the attached RFP.
