    Posted 07-28-2016 16:40

    Colleagues,

You are invited to join us for the PHP Friday Service Activity:  Community Service at Bowers Museum's KIDSEUM, Friday, August 5th, 2016, from 1:00PM - 5:00PM!

This is a wonderful opportunity for the Academy of Management, the sponsoring division (PNP), and all participants. A certificate of service participation is being prepared by the PNP division for all participants at the event.

Ø  Register with Kira Kristal Reed  kireed@syr.edu  so that your certificate can be available after the activity.

    ·        The website of the museum details its impressive programs and ways in which this organization serves the community. https://www.bowers.org/. Part of the Bowers is the Kidseum, which is where we will serve.

    Time frame:

    ·        1:00: We leave the Marriott via shuttle for the Museum KIDSEUM

    Ø  1802 N Main St, Santa Ana, CA 92706

    ·        4:30: We depart the Museum for the Marriott, arriving 5:00.

    Transportation is provided!

The AGM Shuttle Service will be taking us from the Marriott to and from the facility

    ·        Look for signage that reads: PNP SERVICE

    ·        The seating capacity is limited.

    ·        RESERVE YOUR SEAT with Kira Kristal Reid kireed@syr.edu  WHILE THEY LAST! J

    What we will learn:

    ·        We will learn about the  Museum's Teen Career program, in which teens learn how to apply artistic skills to other educational and occupational endeavors.

Ø  This presentation should demonstrate how art can inform creative problem-solving across disciplines.

    ·        We will be educated on the free monthly family festivals they offer to strengthen families and provide cultural education.

    ·        On Sunday, August, 7, the Museum will host an International Festival of Masks, mask making and their influence on cultures around the world.

Ø  This particular festival fits perfectly with the makeup of the Academy and its objective for us to learn from one another and consider whether our management theories hold across different cultural contexts.

A link to the Museum's web page on the International Festival of Masks is: http://www.bowers.org/index.php/component/yendifevents/event/497-internation-festival-of-masks?Itemid=306

Our work:  We will help the museum staff prepare for the festival in various ways, such as checking the supply closets for art supplies and inventory (for the mask making projects).

The format of the four hour session will be as follows:

    ·        1:00  Leave the Marriott and travel to Kidseum via AGM Shuttle

    ·        At the Kidseum:
