My name is Brian Tate. I am a graduate student in the psychology department at PennStateUniversity. Along with Dr. Samuel Hunter, also from Penn State, and Doug Lindsay, from the Air Force Academy, I am working on a research study attempting to determine the qualities that people consider to be characteristic of effective followers and subordinates.
To this end, we have created a list of qualities based on results of a previous survey administered to members of community organizations in Pennsylvania, students, and Air Force cadets. In the process of creating a useable measure out of the qualities, we would now like to perform a factor analysis on responses to a survey that asks participants to rate how characteristic each of ninety-four qualities are of effective followers. The online survey takes about 15-20 minutes to complete. A link to the survey is below.
The first page you will see after clicking on the link includes an informed consent form. The form describes the purpose and procedure of the study and the confidentiality of your responses to the survey. After reading the form, if you would like to take the survey, click on "I Agree" and you will be directed to the survey. If you do not want to take the survey, click on "I Disagree" and you will be exited from the survey.
In return for your participation in the study, we would be happy to share its results with you once it has been concluded. If you know others who might be willing to complete the survey, especially if they hold a managerial or supervisory position, we would be very grateful if you would forward this email to them.
